We have found a way to keep both thread strands parallel while winding on the spool, By combining different colors it is now much easier to separate the individual strands for inserting dubbings, herl, etc.

The most important thing to remember is after you have started the thread take one strand and wind it about three times around the hook shank. This will keep the strands separated as you continue to tie the fly.
