Tungsten is nearly twice as dense as lead making for jigs that sink fast, and with a smaller profile than their lead counterparts. This gives them a number of advantages such as punching through slushy holes, dropping fast and straight, banging bottom, and allows for more aggressive jigging. In addition, they are not toxic like lead, so are more environmentally friendly.
